We are a non profit 501c3 Established in 2013 to serve Franklin County by ensuring the future of our most precious resource: our children. Our goal for the SafeKids Program is to strengthen an unattended youths family foundation and do everything possible to ensure High School Graduation.
Hundreds of young people have interacted with SafeKids have made advancements. Since 2013, we’ve established: 300 SafeSpots—community businesses and institutions that receive kids in crisis. (*As of 2024 soe of these businesses will become SafePlaces) Taylor’s House which unfortunately closed in 2018,was a full-time respite care home to transition young people out of unsafe households. HostFamilies who take in teens for extended periods of time, often to help them complete high school. Other programs to assist young people in getting part-time work, money for necessities, and counseling.
SafePlaces is part of our SafeKids outreach program dedicated to providing immediate help and safety for young people in crisis. Through a network of community partners, they offer support and resources to youth facing homelessness, abuse, and other dangers.
The Safe Place program designates locations like schools, fire stations, libraries, and businesses as Safe Places where youth can go for immediate help. Trained staff connect them to appropriate services and support.
Individuals and organizations can get involved by becoming Safe Place locations, volunteering, donating, or partnering with Epic Empowerment to support the county outreach mission. With the lack of resources in Franklin County our most pressing need is to become a Host Family.
When a family is facing crisis, kids can become vulnerable to neglect and abuse. No family should experience this. Many parents rely on relatives and friends for support. But for some, this is not enough—or even an option. That’s where our SafeKids Host Families are needed—and volunteers like you—come in. You can be part of a supportive community for parents as they strive to overcome poverty, homelessness, health issues, job loss, or other obstacles.
